Pregnancy is full of curiosities and when it is about your baby’s movement in the womb, it is even more exciting. By the time an expectant mother enters the seventh or eighth month, she starts to observe a set pattern in her baby’s behavior and movements.

That small kicks, twisting and wiggling make her super excited and these movements are also an indication of baby’s good health and wellbeing. As the baby grows, they stretch and flex. This is the time when they begin to punch, rool and kick. Gradually, your baby’s movements become more ʀᴇsᴘᴏɴsɪᴠᴇ ᴛᴏ ɴᴏɪsᴇs, ᴜɴᴄᴏᴍFᴏʀᴛᴀʙʟᴇ ᴘᴏsɪᴛɪᴏɴs, sʟᴇᴇᴘɪɴɢ ᴀɴᴅ sɪᴛᴛɪɴɢ ᴘᴀᴛᴛᴇʀɴs.

Pregnant women often observe more movements during the night time. One of the common reasons that could explain this pattern is that baby becomes more alert when he/ she is not feeling any activity. While would-be-mothers are more active during the day, baby goes into the sleeping mode. And when there is no movement, it could astound them, which results in even vigorous movements.

But again, this may vary from child to child. Babies can be more active during the day too. And mothers, being active during the daytime, might not feel their movement as much as they sense it during night time.

The small movements that your baby makes in the day might go unnoticed as you are mostly occupied during the day. But all those movements that are vigorous, like kicking forcefully can be felt any time of the day. If you feel that it’s mostly during the night your baby moves a lot, try to observe the movements during the day too. Notice the signs your baby reacts to. In case you observe no movement, do not panic at once. Maybe the child has developed a sleeping pattern.

There are chances that you might experience reduced movements during the day as well in the night. While it doesn’t always mean that something is wrong but you should also not ignore it. Keep on observing the movements and if you feel they are getting weird, it could be a sign of lack of oxygen ᴀɴᴅ Fᴇᴛᴀʟ ᴅɪsᴛʀᴇss.
